About the book.

I Made A Promise was a 2 year project for author Danny Smith and covers a collection of inspiring tales from all over Australia.

Ordinary people living extraordinary lives.

The book tells of the unique real life stories of Australians who have motivated and inspired others through their achievements and contributions.

Author Danny Smith with Sam Lawson. Sam was born with Spina Bifida. His mother Kate Lawson has a story in I Made A Promise.

Story content from the contributors is wide and includes the incredible tale of survival of Warren Macdonald (featured on Channel 9 I Shouldn’t Be Alive in May 07) who became the first double leg amputee to climb Tasmania’s Federation Peak and the incredible story of quadriplegic Sam Bailey.

Contrasting this is the emotional scenes from the Boxing Day Tsunami as described by NSW Disaster Management Specialist Peter Baines. There is also a piece from World War 2 veteran Fred Lasslett who recalls his days in Japan as well as an account by Kokoda trail leader Aidan Grimes on the values instilled by trekking the famous 96km stretch (for more information please see the contributors page.)

10% of the profits from the book will be donated to The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne.
